The Healing Path - A story of how I came to do what I love

I grew up in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from college in Vermont, I returned to NYC's East Village for several years to work in the legal, corporate marketing field before deciding to return to academia to study medicine. I moved to Tempe, AZ to complete my pre-medicine requirements for medical school acceptance. Simultaneously I gained employment at the Southwest Natural Pharmacy associated with Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. My initial intention was to pursue a career in conventional, "allopathic" medicine, but working at the Natural Pharmacy changed all that. I had a change of plans and a change of mind.

While working at the Natural Pharmacy I came in contact with hundreds of patients. These patients shared their touching stories, of disease, of mismanagement of pharmaceutical drugs, and worst of all how they were no better now than when they first started. Many were not helped by the 20 or so medical specialists they were seeing, or the multiple drug schedules they were prescribed.

I learned firsthand from the mouths of these patients how much their conditions had improved from using natural medicine. Many felt better than they had in years, and would profess that they were so thankful they had found this medicine to help them with their problems. After hearing these stories repeatedly, day after day, I decided that this was the medicine I was meant to do, the medicine that I was born to do. I am overjoyed that I am able to provide this type of medicine to my patients.

In 2007 with my eyes set on the West Coast and warmer weather, I decided to move to my present home, in California. My perspective on health is that our bodies have the inherent intelligence to be healthy. Disease manifests when the complex systems of our bodies become out of balance. In other words, disease is a manifestation of "imbalance".

My approach to wellness is virtually the same for every condition: First, to perform a comprehensive intake to ascertain the underlying cause of the condition, second, to find ways to remove this underlying cause, and third, to support the body in whatever way is most appropriate to achieve balance and health.
