Welcome to:
"My
Health Corner!"
February is here to shed a little love and sharing
on the doldrums of winter. Dr. Kupperman and I have
been busy lecturing on Detoxification, setting up
the Online Medicinary, and moving Portal To Healing
into the digital age with my online Blog
and our Facebook
presence. I encourage you to join my Blog
which addresses a topic or question from a patient
each week.
We are excited to announce that you will now be able
to access the high quality pharmaceutical grade supplements
you usually purchase from our office, online. There
is a link on the home page of our website
that will take you to My
Online Medicinary!
If you are a Facebook
user please befriend us to keep up on the latest in
lectures and local events.
February is a perfect month to focus on self-love.
Make a list of all the little things that you do for
yourself; chances are the list is too short. We often
put off until “later” some of the things
that make us feel relaxed, nurtured, or well balanced.
This can include exercise, resting, getting to bed
earlier, preparing good food, having conversations
with people that are important to us, and doing things
we love. This month’s Ezine focuses on body
maintenance, a type of self-love that we have with
our physical bodies to ensure optimal performance
through each stage of our lives.
With Much Respect for you and the ones you love,
Dr.

BODY
MAINTENANCE:
Body maintenance is similar to car maintenance. Here
are a few examples for you to get a good visual.
What happens when we don’t change the fuel filter
in the car? The particulates in the gasoline flow
into the engine and cause it to get clogged up.
What happens when we ignore the check engine light?
The engine will shortly be out of a vital fluid, which
causes it to seize.
What happens when the battery wires are crossed? There
is a missed signal and the battery doesn’t perform
as it was intended.
I’m sure you are getting the drift, and there
are literally a dozen more examples. The point is
that we take our cars in for routine oil changes but
we don’t do the same with our bodies. Yet we
expect them to perform, decade after decade, as we
pile in the preservatives, food colorings, pesticides,
hormones, chemicals, and artificial sweeteners. These
items add up in our body and contribute to our total
toxin load; or as I like to say, our own internal
pile of garbage. Up until recently, we only went to
the doctor if we were sick, to have him or her treat
a disease or problem. But medicine as we know it is
changing.
More people are taking responsibility for their health
and want to know what they can do to prevent illness,
disease, and pain. One of the biggest things we can
do is take out the trash in our body. Taking out the
trash is just like changing the fuel filter or addressing
the problem that caused the check engine light to
come on, and ensures that our wires don’t become
crossed. The way toxins build up in our body is just
like one of those plastic flower planters. We keep
adding water but there is no drain hole at the bottom
so the plant ends up drowning in its own fluids.
Chronic disease is a slow break-down of body systems
as a direct result of garbage overload, which causes
us to slow down and eventually drown in our own fluids.
Not a pretty thought but that is exactly what happens
in individuals suffering from: Skin rashes and hives,
Neurological Conditions, Sinusitis, Chronic Allergies,
Food Allergens, Auto-immune Disease, Constipation,
certain types of Cancer, Fatty Liver, Migraines, Chronic
Inflammation and Pain.
One
of the most common mistakes doctors make is to attempt
to treat these conditions without taking out the garbage.
And so medications, vitamins, minerals, and treatments
are piled on top of the garbage that led to the condition
in an attempt to squelch the condition. This is treat
the symptom medicine. Natural medicine takes
out the garbage, which over time lessens the condition.
This is treat the cause medicine.
The
best way to take out the Garbage in our bodies is
through Detoxification. At the clinic almost every
sick person gets some type of detoxification as part
of his or her treatment program. Sometimes the form
of detoxification is more obvious than others, however
the goal is the same; to restore the sick to health
by restoring body function through elimination, or
drilling a hole in the bottom of the flower planter
to allow the toxins to leave the body.
For more focused garbage removal, we have a formal
21 day detoxification program that focuses on opening
the organs of elimination and getting them to expel
the garbage that has been slowing them down and creating
symptoms such as sluggishness, foggy thinking, fatigue,
carbohydrate cravings, bloating, and apathy.
Two of the greatest things you can do for your health
are to decrease the level of toxins entering your
body in the form of processed foods, prescription
or over the counter medications, and unclean water,
and make sure your organs of elimination are working.
Your organs of elimination include skin and perspiration,
kidneys and urination, lungs and respiration, liver
& colon with bowel movements. Simple daily tasks
to ensure proper elimination include, drinking water
to flush the kidneys, eating fiber to flush the liver
and colon, deep breathing to expel toxins from the
lungs, and exercise to induce sweating.
For
a more focused detoxification program come and see
us. We can help take out the garbage and increase
health on the inside so it shines through to your
outside.
